Dima'em ini salah satu tenant yang ada di 60 Common House, konsep tempat seperti Shophaus yang ada di Menteng. Pas ke sini baru ada 3 tenant, selain di.maem ada bakmi dan satu tenant minuman.

Sempet ngintip ke dalam, dia ada area duduk yang undakan gitu, cakep sih tapi masih ditutup gitu. Ada jembatan naik ke atas tapi ga sempet naik, jadi ga tahu kayak gimana.

Nah balik ke di.maem jadi dia jual makanan Indonesia. Jadi kalian bisa pilih dari display yang tersedia masakan yang ada. Konsepnya mirip warteg kira - kira. Cuma take away dendeng cabe ijo karena makanan yang ready baru sedikit. Dendengnya sendiri empuk dan gampang dipotong pakai sendok. Cabe ijonya sih buat aku ga pedas, cocoklah dimakan bareng nasi panas.

Stopped in at Division Road’s pop up at Common House in Charlottesville yesterday. Met Jason, Lauren, and Ephraim and talked their ears off. Excellent people selling excellent stuff. Also ran into tailoredgoat who was there checking everything out as well. Please stop by if you are in the area, they’re open today too. Picked up a couple of things including these Natural Dublin Service Boots which I have been threatening to buy for at least a year.

🎨 Our local artist feature of the month is the talented Cate West Zahl! You may have seen Cate’s works around town - her largest painting, a colorful abstract, hangs in Common House’s Vinegar Hall. Scroll left to view some of her beautiful abstractions reminiscent of Richard Diebenkorn’s geometric paintings inspired by the natural landscape.

@catewestzahl will be showing her new work, “Winter’s Edge” at @phaetongallerycharlottesville December 8th through January 20th, with Opening Night reception 5:30-8pm December 8th.
For this series, the celebrated local oil painter “sought to capture the strange beauty of a landscape in hibernation, drawing inspiration from the simpler foliage and subdued palette that colder weather brings.”

🖼️ Cate is a painter working in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she lives with her husband and three sons. She first studied studio art under Lee Newman at the Holton-Arms school, and then went on to earn her BA in Fine Arts from Hamilton College. Her academic training was based in the technical study of life, a strong foundation from which she could explore more explicit abstraction. She has been in local shows at Second Street Gallery, Welcome Gallery, Chroma Gallery in addition to showing in Richmond and Washington D.C. Currently she pursues painting from life and making abstract paintings simultaneously out of her loft studio in Belmont, Virginia.

“The compositions are meant to be an evocative, abstracted take on the beauty found in rural, untouched space.”

On painting during the pandemic: “My studio practice has revolved around the exploration of abstraction for several years, but when the pandemic hit, the thought of making conceptual, architectonic paintings felt too daunting. So, this past year I returned to the basics of painting from life. The fields, flora and rolling hills of Virginia have been my refuge during this season of quarantine. With my children out of school, going to the studio was no longer an option so I took my paints into nature and attempted to capture the beauty of the unkempt countryside.“

I could not be more thrilled to see this incredible historic building reimagined to be one of our most dynamic spaces yet! Social membership club with more amenities than you can imagine, but even better- one of our most stylish and elevated event and wedding venues Chattanooga has seen.

Walking through the almost 100-year-old building even during the overhaul and construction, it isn’t hard to see just how impressive this space will be. I feel like I am fairly difficult person to impress, so when I say this new shop had me enthralled from the first social media post I saw from them over a year ago? Gucci.

Common House has been on my list of shops to visit since they opened their first location in Independence, MO. At the moment I’m living on the Kansas side of the city, so the drive out to Independence isn’t often on my docket. They’ve been lingering in the back of my mind for months, so when I realized Common House was moving downtown, it piqued my interest even further.

The original concept at their Independence location was a combination coffee shop/co-working space, - which I at one point thought was an original idea to me: I guess it’s true what they say, there is nothing new under the sun. Co-working spaces and coffee shops have always intrigued me for similar reasons. I’ve mentioned before that spaces have very specific purposes for me; If I need to focus and concentrate on a task, I can’t be at home as that is a space for living and socializing. However, my productivity can increase tenfold if I go to a public space. It seems a little counterintuitive, but I often go to coffee shops when I want to be alone. In both co-working environments and coffee shops, one can be surrounded by people without the expectation of conversation. A haven for the introverted souls.

I didn’t think a better combination existed until Common House announced that their move would be into an art gallery. An art gallery/coffee shop combination is like paradise, dare I say utopia. The only thing that I can fathom being a notch or two better would be a coffee shop in a history museum. But, until someone capitalizes on that dream, this will do splendidly.

Common House lives on the ground floor of a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the Crossroads District. Past the coffee portion lies the Jones Gallery consisting of 9000sq feet, over three stories, of art gallery. The two businesses truly complement each other very well. Common House is a clean slate of white walls and simple tables, while the gallery feels like organized chaos.
