Cville’s first snow of the year has come and gone, and this weekend is supposed to be in the 60s. Welcome to Virginia weather! We hope you join us this weekend for these awesome activities in and around Charlottesville.

Friday, January 10th:

  • Champion Brewing Company is helping to support A Playground for Walker by donating $1 for every beer sold from 5pm-7pm. Help build a playground at Walker Upper Elementary!
  • You can laugh your ankles off (that is what is stands for, right?) at the LYAO Host Battle with hosts Chris Allen and Winston Hodges at the Southern. Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts at 8:30pm.
  • Want to see a movie you’ll still be trying to figure out for years to come? Head to the Paramount at the Movies Presents: Memento at 7:30pm. Then, start the discussion.
  • Sculpt a piece of art while sipping on your favorite beverage at the Crafts & Cocktails event at IX Art Park starting at 8pm. Admission is free, and materials are priced a la carte.
  • Jazz fans can enjoy Frank Vignola’s Hot Jazz Trio at the Front Porch from 8pm until 10pm.

Saturday, January 11th:

  • Looking for a place to watch the JMU Dukes in the FCS National Championship game? Head to Random Row Brewery to watch all the action starting at noon.
  • Join the CASPCA at Vitae Spirits Distillery for Sip n Slobber from 1pm-3pm. Visit with adorable adoptable dogs, enter the raffle, and sip to support the CASPCA.
  • The UVA Men’s basketball team will take on Syracuse at John Paul Jones Arena with tip-off time at 4pm.
  • There is a ‘low ticket warning’ in effect for the Steel Wheels at the Jefferson Theater. Tickets are $25 in advance. Doors open a 6pm, and the show starts at 7pm.
  • Other music choices this night include Eric Franzen and Seleus at Fellini’s, Big Boy Brass at the Whiskey Jar, The Mad Children at Moe’s, and DJ Groovematic at Rapture.

Sunday, January 12th:

  • Live Music on the Hill returns at Pippin Hill Vineyards with Calvin Earl starting at 1pm.
  • Enjoy music from the Unlikely Candidates at the Southern with Orphan the Poet and Harli & the House of Jupiter. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7:30pm.
  • Catch the Gina Furtado Project at Cville Coffee starting at 7pm. Tickets are available through the Prism Coffeehouse.
